User's guide
You can borrow any materials for free.
We protect the privacy of those who use the library.
Is this the first time to use the library? then
- You have to make a "Library Card" to borrow materials.
- Library cards are available at no cost to all Abiko City residents.
- Please fill in the "Application Sheet" and submit it with proof of your address, then you can receive the Library Card immediately.
- With that card, you can borrow materials the same day.
- You can use your Library Card at all the libraries in Abiko City
- Please bring your library card with you whenever you come to the library.
How to borrow
- To check out materials, please bring them with your Library Card to the circulation desk.
- You may borrow a total of 10 Books、5 Audio-Visual materials for two weeks.
- You may also borrow magazines except for the latest editions.
How to return
- To return materials, please bring them to the circulation desk.
- You may return them at any libraries in Abiko City.
- If the library is closed, please deposit them into the after-hours post box.
- But you may not deposit the Audio-Visual materials into after-hours post box.
How to search
- Please feel free to ask any library staff for help.
- You can also search materials with computers by titles, authors or keywords.
If you can't find what you want
- You can reserve what you want, if it is on loan.
- If what you want is not in this library, you can obtain it from other Abiko library branches or the central library.
- If the book you want is not in our libraries, we may possibly be able to obtain it from another city library for you. You must fill in the request card and submit it.
- But this service does not include Audio-Visual materials.

- Central library Tuesday to Sunday 9:30 to 20:00
- Kohokudai branches Tuesday to Saturday 9:30 to 17:00
- Fusa branches Tuesday to Sunday 9:30 to 17:00
Library closed days
Central library & Fusa branches
- On every Monday (except for national holidays on Monday ,in which case the libraries open on the holiday and closed the following weekday instead.)
- The year-end and New Year Holiday period.
- Special closure day for inventory will be posted on the board and website in advance.
Kohokudai branches
- On every Sunday & Monday (except for national holidays on Monday ,in which case the libraries open on the holiday and closed the following weekday instead.)
- The year-end and New Year Holiday period.
- Special closure day for inventory will be posted on the board and website in advance.
